PETITION CALLING FOR SENATOR RODRIC D. BRAY TO STEP DOWN AS PRESIDENT PRO TEMPORE OF THE INDIANA SENATE

The May 5, 2026 Indiana Republican Primary sent a loud and unmistakable message to the political establishment: Hoosier Republicans are demanding leadership that listens to the people, respects the grassroots, and supports the America First agenda championed by President Donald J. Trump.

For too long, Senate President Pro Tempore Rodric D. Bray has exercised extraordinary power over the Indiana Senate while increasingly distancing himself from the concerns and priorities of Republican voters across our state.

One of the clearest examples was his public opposition to congressional redistricting reform. Many grassroots conservatives urged the Indiana General Assembly to redraw congressional district boundaries to better reflect the will of Republican voters and strengthen conservative representation in Washington. Senator Bray chose instead to oppose those efforts, effectively shutting down debate and ignoring the voices of citizens who were asking their elected officials to act.

In addition, numerous reports from legislators and political activists indicate that Senator Bray pressured fellow senators to disregard the concerns of their constituents and dismissed President Donald Trump’s support for conservative challengers, claiming that President Trump was bluffing and would not follow through with endorsements or active involvement in Indiana races.

The May 5 primary results proved that assessment was profoundly mistaken.

Across Indiana, voters rejected establishment politics and rallied behind candidates who offered bold, conservative leadership rooted in constitutional principles, secure borders, election integrity, parental rights, fiscal responsibility, and limited government.

The aftermath of this election is a direct reflection of failed leadership at the highest level of the Indiana Senate. When the Senate’s top leader dismisses both the grassroots and the most influential conservative leader in America, he demonstrates that he no longer understands the movement he claims to represent.

The office of President Pro Tempore requires wisdom, sound judgment, and a commitment to advancing the priorities of Republican voters. Senator Bray’s opposition to redistricting reform, his reported efforts to discourage senators from listening to the people and to President Trump, and his failure to recognize the strength of the grassroots movement have severely undermined confidence in his leadership.

For these reasons, we respectfully call upon Senator Rodric D. Bray to resign as President Pro Tempore of the Indiana Senate.

We further urge the members of the Indiana Senate Republican Caucus to elect new leadership that is accountable to the people, committed to constitutional government, and willing to advance an authentic America First agenda.

The voters have spoken.

The grassroots have spoken.

President Trump has spoken.

It is time for new leadership in the Indiana Senate.
