***An Open Letter from West Virginia Health Organizations Urging West Virginia Schools to Incorporate Universal Masking to Ensure Safe, In-Person Learning for Students.***

A return to in-person learning is vital for students in West Virginia as our schools and school-supported programs are essential for child and adolescent development and academic instruction and play important roles in building social and emotional skills, providing safety, reliable nutrition, physical/occupational/speech therapy, mental health services, health services, and so much more. However, as our state experiences a surge in COVID-19 cases and as the virus’s highly contagious Delta variant spreads throughout the state, it is essential that in-person learning also be paired with the implementation of effective strategies to prevent the transmission of the virus in our schools.

**We the People of West Virginia** maintain dozens of real scientific studies and experiences that show THIS IS MISINFORMATION and DEMAND the authors of the letter PROVE THEIR CLAIM OR RESCIND THE LETTER. Mask packaging even states MASKS DO NOT prevent the spread of COVID-19 or other viruses.

**We the Parents and concerned citizens of West Virginia** maintain dozens of SCIENTIFIC STUDIES and real evidence that prove MASKS ARE HARMFUL TO OUR CHILDREN’S PHYSICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH.

**We the Parents and concerned citizens of West Virginia** DEMAND the authors of this letter DISCLOSE the known and potential PHYSICAL and MENTAL HEALTH EFFECTS of children being forced to wear masks seven hours a day, five days a week. Specifically, how it adversely effects young children’s cognitive development, increases stress, anxiety and depression levels, resulting in elevated youth suicide rates, increases psychological and physiological damage, and promotes fear. Children cannot breathe properly, maintain headaches, lose oxygen, academic instruction is diminished, and speech therapy can’t happen when kids mouths are muzzled and hidden.

**We the Citizens of West Virginia** will not accept a mask mandate or be coerced to take an experimental shot being referred to as a vaccine. We are FEARLESS, not Fearful people. WV Governor Justice has hinted he will implement another mask mandate for innocent school children. BE ADVISED – We the Parents and Children of West Virginia are prepared to STRIKE in PROTEST of any mask or vaccine mandate and will not attend any school that mandates either.

**Please consider this inquiry as a Freedom of Information Request to provide a copy of the following:**

1. A copy of any and every study used as or as part of the basis of decision making in the 2020-2021 school year leading County Schools to require children to wear masks.
2. A copy of any and every mental health study showing the mental health effects on children forced to wear masks for up to seven hours a day, five days a week that was used as or as part of the basis of decision making to require masks in the 2020-2021 and in the recommending of wearing masks in the 2021-2022 school year.
3. A statement known and used by County Schools indicating the survival rate of a child under the age of 18 who has contacted COVID-19.
4. A statement known and used by County Schools indicating the survival rate of a child under the age of 18 who has contacted the seasonal flu.
