End COVID-19 Restrictions at Weekday Ministries

We, the undersigned, petition the board of directors of Weekday Ministries at Geist Christian Church to end the following protocols related to COVID-19, permanently and effective immediately:

1. Requirements for students and teachers to wear masks;
2. Contact tracing;
3. Student suspensions related to COVID-19; and
4. School shutdowns related to COVID-19.

We recognize that these protocols were well-intentioned at the time they were instated. However, at this time we assert that the costs of these measures outweigh the benefits, both to the students and to the broader community.

To be clear, we are not asking for a ban on wearing masks at school. Rather, we claim that the decision to require a child to wear a mask or stay home from school should be at the sole discretion of the individual child's parents.
