Granville County Public Schools,
As of July 30, 2021 there will no longer be a statewide mask mandate for public schools in North Carolina. With the updated Toolkit, we have moved from "mandates" to "guidance" (although it was labeled guidance all along). In addition to the NC Toolkit *Guidance* updated July 21,2021, all parents also have access to the CDC's *Guidance,* the AAP's *Guidance,* and the ABC Collaborative's *Report* - and we are perfectly capable of interpreting those documents and acting accordingly for what is best for our families.
We, the undersigned, urge the Granville County Public Schools Board of Education to please make masks OPTIONAL to all students K-12, staff, and visitors in Granville County Public School's campuses, facilities, and offices for the 2021-2022 school year beginning August 2, 2021. Furthermore, for masking to be determined on an individual basis at the discretion of the students’ parents and legal guardians. It is the natural right of parents and legal guardians to be the primary protector of their children’s health and safety.
