On March 8, 2024, Maurnice DeClue, 15, got in a fist fight with another girl from her high school, Kaylee Gain. The fight was recorded on cell phone video, which went viral, due to the especially heinous and depraved actions of DeClue, during the fight. DeClue, who is quite big and muscular for a high school girl, is easily twice the size of Kaylee Gain. DeClue pinned Gain to the pavement, using her substantial body weight to prevent Gain from moving, grabbed Gain by both sides of her head and hair, and pounded Gain's head into the pavement, over and over and over again. Gain suffered a fractured skull, a brain bleed and has not woken up from the coma that DeClue put her in. If she survives, she'll be brain damaged for life. DeClue's family has a petition, with 500 signatures so far, asking that she not be charged as an adult. The MO AG has publicly called for DeClue to be charged as an adult. She is currently charged with Assault & being held in juvenile detention. We are asking that DeClue be remanded to Adult Court and charged with Attempted Murder, or Murder if Gain dies. Hate Crime charges should also be considered. DeClue is Black, Gain is White. The level of hatred necessary to beat another teenage girl like that is incalculable. Maurnice DeClue is a clear and present danger to the community and should be held without bail. DeClue demonstrated the most depraved indifference to human life I have ever seen. DeClue's beating of Gain was so utterly vicious, depraved and savage, it shocked the conscience of the entire country - especially, to see a girl beat another girl in such an inhuman, monstrous manner. DeClue should spend decades, if not the reat of her life, behind bars. Juvenile Court cannot give Gain any measure of justice, because the most DeClue could get, apparently, is 3 years and be released at 18. Prosecutors, a judge and jury in adult court are more appropriately equipped to provide justice for Kaylee Gain and the proper venue for Maurnice DeClue's trial. Thank you very much for considering this petition.
