Senator James M. Inhofe is retiring from the United States Senate after 28 years of service to our state. Before serving in the senate he was a U.S. Congressman from the 1st District of Oklahoma. Before that he was Mayor of Tulsa from 1978 to 1984. He also served in both the Oklahoma State House and Senate.
Not only was Senator Inhofe once mayor, he has also maintained his private pilot license for all these years taking himself, in his own airplane, to and from Washington, D.C. .
Tulsa International Airport is misnamed because it is not an international airport. A traveler cannot leave the United States from Tulsa. Tulsa's airport, which has nonstop flights to both coasts, is really a national airport. Just as Washington's national airport is named for President Ronald Reagan, Tulsa's airport should be re-named Tulsa Inhofe National. A good time to make this name change is January 1, 2023 when Senator Inhofe becomes a private citizen.
